Virginia McClellan Obituary

Mrs. Virginia Jo Fuller McClellan, 91, was born March 27, 1931 to the late James and Myrtyle Fuller in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Virginia was happily married to the late Leon James “Bear” McClellan for thirty-four years. She departed this life peacefully in her home in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Saturday, June 18th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Virginia received her education in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and became a graduate of Howard High School 1949. Upon graduation, she began her career as a hairstylist, became an entrepreneur, and opened her own beauty salon, which was in business for over fifty years.

Virginia was an official member of St. Paul AME Church, in the southside of Chattanooga , Tennessee where she served as a missionary and engaged in outreach community service.

Virginia had a passion for fashion.  Whether she was dressing for a particular occasion, or just spending time with her friends and loved ones, she was alwaysdressed to impress, and her outfits never disappointed.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Genese McClellan in 2016.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her loving and devoted daughter, Louise Theresa (Willie) Franklin; grandchildren Jaskinae McClellan of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Amaranta (Chris) Williams of Cold Spring, NY, Wanda Williams, Beverly Sanford, Pamela (John) Hurt, Willie Jr. (Kim) Franklin; great-grandchildren Tara (Chris) McDonald, Clifford Postell, Patrice Murray, Sheena (Kentral) Moore, Kesha Sanford, Erica Hawkins; great-great-grandchildren Keasyia Ward, Kevon Ward, Khalil Spence, Christopher McDonald, Ke’Miyha Houston, and Kannon Boyd.

Virginia was a woman of faith and lived an honorable life serving others. The family is assured that Virginia is in the Lord’s hands, because to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord. Her soul is anchored and her pathway to heaven is abundantly clear. We celebrate her life, a life well lived.
