Henrietta Cross Obituary

 

Ms. Henrietta Cross passed away at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 17, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Ms. Cross is formerly a resident of Chattanooga, TN and was residing in Knoxville, TN.

Ms. Cross was a career educator and guidance counselor for nearly forty years. Ms. Cross graduated from Howard High School, class of 1965, and Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. In addition, she earned a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling also from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN.

Ms. Henrietta was known as a talented seamstress and loved cooking and baking. She was once awarded the Betty Crocker Award. Henrietta was also known as a giver and possessed the spirit of generosity. She believed that everyone should have a gift.

Ms. Henrietta Cross was a lifelong member of Mount Paran Missionary Baptist Church. In later years Ms. Henrietta worshipped with New United Baptist Church and the wonderful Washington Hills United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Walter H. Cross, Sr. and Mrs. Minnie Huling Cross of Chattanooga, TN.

Survived to mourn her passing, brother, Rev. Walter H. Cross, Jr and sister-in-law Rev. Angela M. Hardy Cross, Knoxville, TN, beloved nephew Mr. Walter E. (Eboni) Cross and their son Walter E. Cross II (Atlanta, GA), cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Sterlina Brady of Nashville, TN, the Honorable Elijah Huling of Baldwin, New York, Ms. Edie Whoo of Los Angeles, CA, the Hudson, Cross, Gustus, and Sims cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
