Betty Harris Obituary

Betty Jo Harris passed peacefully from this life the evening of April 5, 2022 after a gradual decline in health.  She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. 

 

She was born in this city on February 19, 1929 to the late Anna Lou Davis and to the late Andrew Harris.  She preceded in death by other beloved relatives.

 

 Ms. Harris accepted Christ at an early age under the guidance of Pastor Ed Angel and was faithful and dedicated member of St Elmo Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined.  She served as Church Clerk, Usher Board Sunday School, and a true friend forever.  A Howard High graduate of class of 1946 and attended A & I (TSU) for two years in Nashville, TN. 

 

She retired from Zayre Department store after working 17 years in the snack bar (the best hamburger ever) and also a former employee of Bonds Drug and Snack Shop.

The best and loved God-mother to Misty TJ Wilson.

 Left to cherish her memories beloved cousin and caregiver, JoAnn Davis along with JoAnn children, Maurice (Andrinna) Davis of Chattanooga, and Darrin (Tamara) Davis of Florida. Devoted cousins Tekelia (Mack) Kelly, Dorothea (Walter) Johnson, Kimberly (Donald) Boles, Valerie Davis, Demetrius Crutcher, Theresa Jones, Marva (James) Vance and Jerri Ann Davis, all of Chattanooga Barbara Davis, Atlanta, GA and Tony Weaver, Atlanta, GA.  and host of other cousins and friends. 

 

Public viewing will be held on April 20, 2022 – time 12:00 -5:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on April 21, 2022 at 12:00 noonat St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church, 3701 W Avenue, Chattanooga.
